If you know me, then you know I LIVE for Tea and this past weekend I had the pleasure of attending Tea Time, an exclusive & intimate tea party series for young women professionals in fashion, beauty & entertainment. Hosted at Madera’s Kitchen in Los Angeles by owner of Divas N Dolls Breann Cook, says she wanted to provide a platform where like minded individuals could come together to cultivate & collaborate.

Claire Sulmers, Editor in Chief of FashionBombDaily helped kick off the event by sharing her challenges of making it into the business. With her first feature being in Teen Vogue and after being linked to the New York Times, Claire says, “You can’t be afraid to speak out and talk to and network with people. You never know who is listening.” Side note I’m listening girl! Along with her, I was able to meet other fabulous business owners, bloggers and ladies who share the same drive, passion and entrepreneurship as I do!
But since I’m a Naturale hair blogger, I had to get the scoop on Claire’s blonde dreads. She said she used to wear braids, but got tired of taking them down just to put them in again. Back in the early 2000s while still in college, Claire decided to get dreaded and haven’t looked back since. By being in the fashion industry, she wanted to be noticed and make a statement. I mean, how many African American women do you know who can rock blonde dreads as fly as she can? She’s definitely made her mark! I also asked her if she received any backlash about wearing her natural hair. She said probably in the beginning, but overall no. She just makes sure they’re always neat by going to the salon regularly for color and maintenance.
Overall I have a wonderful time! It was great to see so many young women coming together and networking. I can’t wait to share my collaboration stories with you all!! If you interested in attending the next Tea Party, be sure to follow @DivasNDolls on Instagram for upcoming events.
